With the explosion of cryptocurrency and NFTs, there’s no avoiding the discussion. As a photographer, there’s a lot to consider and as I’m a photographer (certainly not a financial advisor), allow me to simply take you into the mind of someone who makes photographs and is hyper aware of what is happening to the industry, care of the blockchain.

The Complexity Divide

Just like when people started buying up URLs in the 90’s because, while nobody knew exactly what was happening, they knew something was happening — today, people are minting art and buying coins/tokens with a similar get-first/think-later mentality. The difference is that we are far more advanced now than we were then and the blockchain is a far more complex system than the Internet was. Which means that the real divide right now is not between which NFTs you have versus someone else, but rather who first can take advantage of the complexity of the system as a whole. And are you ahead of the game, or simply being played?

If you’re confused over the idea of a crypto wallet and how to use it, then you’re already a number of steps behind those who are actually forcing the value of crypto with their investments and gaining off the adoption of others. Which all means that the rules of a game are being created…
