Well-done. Also, as you rise up in an agency, you make more money, challenge authority and potentially threaten the positions of partners, or would-be partners. Doing away with you is often simple mob math. That the industry survives without the wisdom of experience in its middle ranks is a testament to its inherent baseness. In that way, it seems wrong to compare the discipline to law or medicine than to say the military, which also needs order takers more than thinkers.

My ex-agency is all over LinkedIn right now touting a “best place to work” award, complete with photos of fresh kid faces. I was let go two weeks before my 50th.
