Stephen — I read your response on the road yesterday and it gave me a big smile of recognition. I too associate BW with limitations. Like you, I could not afford color when I started (in the Eighties)— and I also never learned to process in color, even though I got quite adept at BW processing. So, color has always seemed like something too advanced for me. Although, unlike you, I never really moved much past that. To this day, I still consider myself a BW photographer who “dabbles” in color. Perhaps explaining my fascination of it, from the sidelines.
