Honesty and Hard Work
On December 1st, I’ll be flying to Qatar during World Cup and I want you to come with me. A series like this is something I’ve wanted to do since staring writing on Medium, way back in the beginning days. I did something similar once with America At Work, in 2018. In that project, which was supported by Medium, I travelled across the country and interviewed people about their jobs. It was an important time for me, as I was in the midst of reevaluating my own career path. But as amazing as that journey was, I was doing the job more than describing the job. There were daily deadlines to get interviews transcribed and images uploaded. With this upcoming project, I wanted to do something a little different. Just have photography lovers along for a photography journey. Have a community. In a field that seems to promote and encourage individualism, I’ve always longed for more collaboration and community. Maybe this is a beginning.
The Assignment
The job is to travel along with a dance company, for three weeks, as they perform site-specific choreographies around Qatar, during World Cup. I’ll be running around, from place to place, capturing behind-the-scenes and performance stills that capture this momentous, once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
