I agree the definition of photographer is going through some metamorphosis. Some of it is good, in so much as it’s a bit less of a private club — you can make your own way. But a lot of people are putting themselves out there as pros but probably can’t handle a big shoot. I also would be interested in the editor’s POV. I can say, on the agency side, you know when you need a pro — and no amount of followers can substitute for the quality and guarantee of their larger skill set.
