Hi Aaron Shepard — yes, I focused on the writing side of things over the formatting side of things. The idea that it’s from a photographer’s perspective was meant to express that this was from the POV of someone who writes about that subject. I still think that’s valuable, as I write about a niche subject, rather than broad, generalized topics and I like to believe that’s relevant to other writers of niche subjects.

Perhaps you’d find more value in Medium’s straightforward description of how to use imagery in an article: https://help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/215679797-Images

And to answer your question on why people don’t discuss it much, I would tend to think that because Medium behaves as a normal responsive design website (where it formats automatically for different browsers and mobile) and because the tools are fairly elementary — most people aren’t finding it that challenging. In-line placement of imagery vs “full bleed” is entirely subjective and, in my opinion, is really a stylistic choice of the author.

And for what it’s worth, all your images look perfectly fine in that article on my browser.
